Welcome
“Where there is compassion and understanding, there is action. Where there is action, there is hope.”
New Hope Pit Bull Rescue is a small foster home based organization founded by Alicia Domina and Kat Riley, who together have more than twenty years of experience with the "bully" breeds. We are dedicated to rehabilitating and re-homing unwanted, stray and abandoned Pit Bull type dogs (including the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier), and to promoting humane treatment of animals through educational programs for our community. We are committed to providing quality veterinary care, as well as, socializing, training, behavioral modification where needed, exercise and daily companionship for all animals in our program. Our passion is to inspire and engage the community to help end animal suffering, and to reduce the number of homeless pets through the promotion of low cost spay and neuter programs in our community.
** Temperament testing is REQUIRED on all dogs and puppies before being accepted into New Hope Pit Bull Rescue. All dogs and puppies must be evaluated and approved by one of our Intake Coordinators* plus one board member. No animal with a known history of aggression or biting will be accepted. If you need to talk to us about surrendering your dog, please read our Intake Policy before contacting NHPBR.
Graphic Design Contest
Are you graphicly inclined? New Hope Pit Bull Rescue is hosting the Charleston area event for National Pit Bull Awareness Day on October 25, 2008. We need a graphic to use on shirts that we will be offering at the event! View our contest page for rules and information.
** Foster Homes Needed! **
New Hope Pit Bull Rescue is in dire need of foster homes. We are completely full and are unable to accept any new dogs at the present time. We are not a shelter facility and we rely on foster homes to help us save these wonderful dogs. If you aren't able to adopt, but would still like to help a dog in need, please consider fostering a Pit Bull in need. Military family's make GREAT fosters for our dogs! To learn more about becoming a foster home for NHPBR, please read our Foster Policies. To learn more about what we look for in our dogs, and where we get them, please read our Intake Policy.
Help Us Help Them
* * * * *
There are MANY ways that you can help. We are always in need of donations to put towards vaccinating dogs, having them spayed or neutered, heartworm and other parasite prevention and other medical needs. We operate soley on public donations to help these wonderful dogs, so sponsoring a dog is a GREAT way to help. If you aren't able to make a monetary donation, we could use whatever else you may be able to give. Towels, bedding, food, toys, collars and leashes are something we could always use. Dogs that are adopted out by NHPBR go to their new homes with a collar and a leash. To view a list of items we need for our dogs, please visit our Donation Page
Another one of our biggest concerns is BSL, or Breed Specific Legislation . It is our hope, to educate those who misunderstand these (and other) breeds, and to encourage responsible pet ownership of all animals.
New Hope Pit Bull Rescue does not engage in any of the following activities:
